What ASG Does

ASG reads the selected MIDI clip for its musical fingerprint: notes, rhythm, register, harmonic color, density, and contour. It then creates new MIDI clips that stay connected to the Seed while offering useful compositional directions.

The MVP includes:

right-click MIDI clip generation
scene garden output
track-aware MIDI clip placement
steering controls for density, silence, motif memory, harmonic gravity, pitch, mood, and motion
composer-facing observation text
scene and layer explanation popovers
Expressive Chords-style device detection
guided Chord Print workflow for post-MIDI-effect harmony

MVP Intent

This release is intended for controlled testing with Ableton Live users who can run Extensions. It is not a final commercial distribution package.

The goal is to learn:

whether the generated MIDI feels musical and useful
whether users understand what ASG heard in their Seed
whether generated clips land in the expected tracks/scenes
whether the Chord Print workflow makes sense for Expressive Chords-style MIDI effects

Compatibility

Target environment:

Ableton Live 12.4.5 or compatible Live 12 build with Extensions support
Ableton Extensions beta/runtime access
macOS tested during development

Because Ableton Extensions are currently beta, installation and availability may depend on the tester's Live build and Extensions access.

Before Sharing

Run through QA_CHECKLIST.md on the release package before sending to testers.
