Impulse Tracker extension for Ableton Live — a tracker-style MIDI pattern editor If you're nostalgic for the old-school tracker workflow and wish you could punch in notes the Impulse Tracker way — typing notes on the keyboard into a vertical pattern grid instead of dragging blocks around the piano roll — this Ableton extension brings that pattern editor right onto your MIDI clips. A bit of history for the unfamiliar: Impulse Tracker is a multi-track music tracker (music sequencer). Originally released in 1995 by Jeffrey Lim — it became one of the most beloved trackers of the DOS era, and this is a love letter to its pattern editor. What it does (one sentence): Right-click any MIDI clip in Ableton Live and edit its notes in a faithful Impulse Tracker–style grid — keyboard-driven note entry, channels as voices, NNN VV cells — then write it straight back to the clip.
